What we do...

The Austin Arts + Academic Collaborative is a vibrant co-learning community that brings homeschool families together to share in creative educational experiences while fostering meaningful social connections. We believe in the power of families and educators working in partnership throughout the homeschooling journey. For that purpose, we aim to be a trustworthy partner in upholding a solid, community-focused framework that empowers and enriches students and families, while respecting the flexibility and individuality of home learning. More than just arts and academics, our heart lies in the social connections and community service that unite us.

Our History

AAC has deep roots here in Austin. Founded in 1998, AAC started as the Austin Area Homeschoolers Math & Science Clubs underneath the non-profit umbrella of CADRE (the Community Alliance Dedicated to Reimagining Education). CADRE was envisioned to meet the growing demands for creative, enriching learning experiences for homeschool families. In early 2025, AAC graduated out from underneath the CADRE umbrella. In its new form, the AAC board of directors, in partnership with our community of homeschool families, teachers and volunteers, will build upon the original framework dreamt up 27 years ago and continue the mission to enrich and empower the Central Texas homeschool community through creative and engaging educational and community-building programs in a supportive and inclusive environment. Our hope is to keep the torch lit so that others have the opportunity to be a part of the unique collaborative learning community that is AAC for years to come.
